Litha – Midsummer – Summer Solstice
The gardens are blooming, and summer is in full swing. Fire up the barbeque, turn on the sprinkler, and enjoy the celebrations of Midsummer. Also called Litha, this summer solstice Sabbat honors the longest day of the year. Take advantage of the extra hours of daylight and spend as much time as you can outdoors.
The Goddess is now full and pregnant with Child, and the Sun God is at the height of His virility. This is the peak of the Solar year and the Sun is at the height of its life-giving power. The Earth is awash with fertility and fulfillment and this is a time of joy and celebration, of expansiveness and the celebration of achievements.
Yet within this climax is the whisper and promise of a return to the Dark. As the Light reaches its peak so this is also the moment when the power of the Sun begins to wane. From now on the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer and we are drawn back into the Dark to complete the Wheel of the Year.
The Bonfire
Traditionally people stayed up all night on Midsummer’s Eve to welcome and watch the sunrise. Bonfires were lit on tops of hills, by holy wells, at places held sacred, to honour the fullness of the Sun. At Litha the bonfire really represents a reflection of the Sun at the peak of its strength. The chosen wood would often be Oak and aromatic herbs were scattered into the fire. People danced around the fires and leap through them. Blazing herbs from the sacred bonfire were used to bless the animals. Blazing torches were carried sunwise around homes and fields. Coals from the Midsummer fire were scattered on fields to ensure a good harvest.
All of the flower kingdom is reaching its peak, wide open, full of colour, surrendering their perfume. Our lovely bees are now making honey. Midsummer full moon is known as the ‘Honey Moon’ for the mead made from honey now available. This is often part of handfastings performed at the Summer Solstice. Mead is regarded as the divine solar drink, with magical and life-restoring properties. Drink to celebrate and toast the life-giving abundance of the Sun.
As Litha approaches, you can decorate your home with a number of easy craft projects. Celebrate the sun’s energy with an elemental garden, a fiery incense blend, and a magic staff to use in ritual.
Feasting and Food
No Pagan celebration is complete without a meal to go along with it. For Litha, celebrate with foods that honor the fire and energy of the sun. For a Litha feast, we’ll obviously want to work in as many fresh herbs as possible. Remember that each one has its own individual magical properties, so call on those as needed. I’ve also called in some sun colors with red and orange foods. Cinnamon is ruled by the sun, so it’s definitely invited to the party. And this is the perfect time to cook with fire. Fresh vegetables of all kinds and fresh fruits such as lemons and oranges, summer squash and any yellow or orange colored foods. Flaming foods are also appropriate but especially chicken or pork. Traditional drinks are ale, mead, and fresh fruit juice of any kind and herb teas. Pumpernickel bread is also appropriate. Finally, we’ll bring in some honey to celebrate all the flowers in bloom at this time of year. Let the feast begin.

Book Of Shadows
The Book of Shadows is used to store information you’ll need in your magical tradition should be handwritten. Book Of Shadows is considered a sacred tool, which means it is an item of power that should be consecrated with all of your other magical tools. In many traditions, it is believed you should copy spells and rituals into your Book of Shadows by hand; this not only transfers energy to the writer, but it also helps you to memorize the contents. Make sure you write legibly enough that you’ll be able to read your notes during a ritual. The only contents found in a grimoire would be information on spells, rituals, the preparation of magical tools, and lists of ingredients and their magical correspondences.
Organizing Your Book Of Shadows
To make your Book of Shadows, begin with a blank notebook. A popular method is to use a three-ring binder so items can be added and rearranged as needed. If you use this style of Book of Shadows, you can use sheet protectors as well, which is great for preventing candle wax and other ritual drippings from getting on the pages. Whatever you select, your title page should include your name.
The biggest dilemma with any Book of Shadows is how to keep it organized. You can use tabbed dividers, create an index at the back, or if you’re really super-organized, a table of contents in the front. As you study and learn more, you’ll have more information to include, which is why the three-ring binder is such a practical idea.
If you find a rite, spell or piece of information somewhere else, be sure to note down the source. It will help you keep things straight in the future, and you’ll start to recognize patterns in authors’ works. You may also want to add a section that includes books you’ve read, as well as what you thought of them. This way, when you get a chance to share information with others, you’ll remember what you’ve read. Regardless, find the method that works best for you, and take good care of your Book of Shadows. After all, it’s a sacred object and should be treated accordingly.
What to Include in Your Book of Shadows
When it comes to the contents of your personal Book of Shadows, there are a few sections that are nearly universally included.
- Laws of Your Coven or Tradition
- A Dedication, Name
- Gods and Goddesses
- Correspondence Tables
- Sabbats, Esbats, and Other Rituals
- Sacred Texts
- Magical Recipes
- Spell Crafting
- Sacred Herbs
- Magical Oils
- Incense
- Phases Of The Moon
- Stones And Crystals
- Color
- Candles
- Spell
- Etc…
The Digital Book of Shadows
We’re all on the go pretty much constantly, and if you’re someone who prefers to have your Book of Shadows immediately accessible and editable at any time, you might want to consider a digital Book of Shadows. It is believed you should copy spells and rituals into your Book of Shadows by hand.

The Origin of the Terms
The West has a long history of associating the “Right” with goodness and correctness and the “Left” with inferiority. A person’s most trusted adviser is often called his right-hand man. Until recently, left-handed children were often forced to learn how to do things with their right hand, since left-handedness was considered a developmental error.
What Are the Right-Hand and Left-Hand Paths?
Occult and religious paths are sometimes divided into two categories: the right-hand path and the left-hand path. While there are many religions and spiritual practices in each path and they vary considerably, they hold a few things in common. These terms are not void of controversy and bias, however.
What Is the Right-Hand Path?
The right-hand path concentrate on the symbols of goodness, of the sun, of herd mentality and submission to god and religious authority. To put it a little more diplomatic, the right-hand path can be thought of as one of dogma, ritual, and a belief in the community and formal structure as well as a higher power. The vast majority of religions are considered part of the right-hand path, from Christianity to Witchcraft.
What Is the Left-Hand Path?
The left-hand path is considered to be about the elevation and centrality of the self as well as the rejection of religious authority and societal taboos. The left-hand path focuses on the strength and will of the practitioner. It downplays the need for intercession by any high power although some may believe that a higher power exists. Satanism and Luciferianism are considered left-hand paths. Though each of those can also be found in left-hand path religions, there is less focus on indulging the self in the right-hand path.
Limitation and Bias of Usage
One very large limitation of this terminology is that it is primarily used by followers of the left-hand path. Satanists commonly describe their path as that of the left-hand. However, Christians, Jews, Witchcraft, Wiccans, Druids, and the like do not identify themselves as being of the right-hand path.
As such, definitions of the right-hand path tend to be phrased in fairly derogatory terms as demonstrated. In addition, many people described as being of the right-hand path would disagree to varying degrees with the definitions commonly given.
Conversely, those people who do identify themselves as followers of the right-hand path generally describe the left-hand path as a one of evil, maliciousness, and danger. In this use, the terms become roughly synonymous with white magic and black magic, two other highly biased terms.

Wizards And Witches
Wizards and Witches are people thought to possess magical powers or to command supernatural forces. They appear in the myths and folktales of many cultures. The word “Wizard” refers to a male, “Witch” refers to a female. Some myths and folktales feature good spirits or magicians who help people. These are said to practice “White Magic”. Wizards and Witches might be considered helpful characters or even heroes. Very often there are magicians whose sole purpose is to combat evil magic or protect someone from its effects.
Another common symbol across many cultures is the Stick or Wand used by a Wizard or Witch; this is often a tree branch or something made of wood or bone, and symbolizes the importance of nature in channeling magic. Considered to be more attuned to the supernatural. Many of the practices which have been labelled magic can be performed by anyone. For instance, some charms can be recited by individuals with no specialist knowledge nor any claim to having a specific power. Others require specialised training in order to perform them.
The figure of the Wizards and Witches has existed since antiquity. They were and are treated as the chosen ones, with a gift to heal. Plants, tradition and spirituality come together to avoid conditions and pains that at other times were cause in some cases of becoming fatal diseases. When we talk about the figure of the healers, we refer to a Wizards and Witches, a person who cures traditionally. And for this he uses both physical and spiritual means. The functions of it are to provide healing to mental, emotional, physical and spiritual diseases through herbal treatments and massages.
Traditionally, the most common method of identifying, differentiating, and establishing magical practitioners from common people is by initiation. Several proponents of solitary practice have advocated and promoted the act of “self-initiation”, a process by which an individual professes in private their commitment to and worship of a particular deity.
The concept of witchcraft and the belief in its existence have persisted throughout recorded history. It has been found at various times and in many forms among cultures worldwide, and continues to have an important role in some cultures today. Most societies have believed in, an ability by some individuals to cause supernatural harm and misfortune to others. This may come from mankind’s tendency to want to assign occurrences of remarkable good or bad luck to agency, either human or superhuman. Which differs from the historical, traditional, and Indigenous definitions depictions of “Positive Witchcraft”.

Pentacle
Witchcraft is considered a modern interpretation of pre-Christian traditions, though some involved claim a direct line to ancient practices. It may be practiced by individuals or members of groups. There is great diversity among individuals and groups that practice a Witchcraft religion, but many are duotheistic, worshiping both a Mother Goddess and a Horned God.
A pentacle is a kind of amulet or talisman used in traditional magical evocations and in some magical traditions such as Witchcraft, alongside other magical tools. It is often confused with the pentagram symbol, which is also widely used within the words are often used.
A pentacle is employed as a magical tool within modern forms of witchcraft, generally to summon certain energies or command spirits. It is one of the four elemental tools of witchcraft, along with the chalice, the athame and the wand, and represents the element of Earth. It is normally the centrepiece of the altar on which objects are to be consecrated or charged, and such things as amulets, charms and other tools are placed on it, as may also be the salt and water for blessing. It may also be worn around the neck, or just placed within the triangle of evocation.
A pentacle is generally a disc made of parchment, paper, metal, although it can be of other materials such as stone, clay, wood, etc, on which the symbol of a spirit or energy being evoked is drawn. Other protective symbols may also be included, and the pentacle can be decorated and personalized by the individual, according to its required purpose.
Despite the sound of the word, pentacle often had no connotation of five in the old magical texts. A pentacle could therefore be any magical talisman inscribed with any symbol or character, and a great variety of shapes and images appear in the old magical grimoires. When they do incorporate star-shaped figures, than pentagrams five-pointed.
On the other hand usually inscribed inside a circle, is also used widely today as a symbol of faith by many Witchcraft. Many people who practice Witchcraft faiths wear jewellery incorporating the pentagram symbol, the points of which are held to represent earth, air, fire, water and spirit. The Witchcraft pentagram is drawn upright, single point on top.
According to the ancient grimoires, the pentacle is of central importance in the evocation of spirits. A fairly typical evocation involves a series of conjurations of increasing potency, each involving the display of the pentacle. Once the spirit has appeared and been constrained, the pentacle is covered again, but is uncovered whenever demands are made of the spirit or when it is compelled to depart.

Wheel Of The Year
The Wheel of the Year is a symbol represents the 8 festivals important to many Wizards and Witches. These holidays, knows as Sabbats, follow a nature-based calendar and include four solar festivals and four seasonal festivals set in between them. Which includes four solar festivals:
- Winter Solstice
- Spring Equinox
- Summer Solstice
- Fall Equinox
- Four seasonal festivals, celebrating or marking a significant seasonal change.
Because solstices and equinoxes are tied to exact astronomical moments, the holidays shift slightly from year-to-year. In the ancient Celtic culture, as in many of the past, time was seen as cyclical. The seasons changed, people died, but nothing was ever finally lost because everything returned again, in one way or another, in a repeating natural cycle. Although time in the modern world is usually regarded as linear, the cyclical nature of life continues to be recognized.
The wheel includes the following holy days:
- Yule – Winter Solstice (20-25 December)
- Imbolc – Candlemas (1-2 February)
- Ostara – Spring Equinox (20-23 March)
- Beltane – May Eve (30 April-1 May)
- Litha – Summer Solstice (20-22 June)
- Lughnasadh – Lammas (1 August)
- Mabon – Autumn Equinox (20-23 September)
- Samhain – Halloween – Day Of The Dead (31 October)
These eight festivals are designed to draw one’s attention to what one has gained and lost in the cyclical turn of the year. As in the ancient Egyptian civilization and others, the Celts believed that ingratitude was a “gateway sin” which then led a person into the darkness of bitterness, pride, resentment, and self-pity. By pausing to reflect upon gratitude for what one had been given in a year, as well as what one had lost but still cherished in memory, one maintained balance.
Offerings
Offerings of food, drink, various objects, etc. have been central in ritual propitiation and veneration for millennia. Practice of grains, herbs, milk, wines, incense, baked goods, minerals, etc. The exception being with ritual feasts including meat, where the inedible parts of the animal are often burned as offerings while the community eats the rest. The purpose of offering is to benefit the venerated, show gratitude, and give something back, strengthening the bonds between humans and divine and between members of a community.

What is Magic?
The universe is composed of two realms, the natural one and the spiritual one. The natural one is composed of all of the things we can touch, see, and measure. The spiritual one is the realm of the universal consciousness and of the soul. All of us are integral part of both realms. We are both physical beings part of the natural realm and our souls are part of the spiritual one.
Most religions believe in the concept of the soul and of gods that are part of the spiritual realm. Most of these same religions discount the presence of magic, or make it something bad or evil and forbid its practice. At the same time some of their own practices could be considered magical in concept.
Whether you are a religious person interested in magic on its own, or have magical religious inclinations, magic is the same thing. It is the use by man’s immortal soul of the spiritual energy of that realm to influence events and/or things in the natural realm. Like there are natural forces in the universe there are also spiritual ones and they can be used, if you know how, just as well as the natural ones.
My beliefs are that the spiritual realm is where the universal consciousness exists. This universal consciousness as a whole would be called God in most religions and our souls coexist with it. As we live and learn and die and go through the cycle countless times, our souls get more and more educated and finally get assimilated into the universal consciousness and become a sentient part of it. It is the ultimate goal of all souls to be part of the universal consciousness.
You do not have to be part of a certain group of human, or receive special training to benefit from magic. You do not even have to partake in my views of how the universe works. My beliefs and conclusions came after a lifetime of studies and I know for a fact that everybody can benefit from magic. This is why this website came into being, as I wanted to bring my knowledge to the outside world and make the largest amount of human beings benefit from it.
One very important thing that you have to remember is that as in the natural world, in the spiritual one you are judged only by your actions. Since the spiritual forces of magic behave exactly like the natural forces, for every action there is a reaction. For every positive thing that you accomplish with magic, the return action will be positive for you. Equally for every negative thing that you attempt to do, there will be negative repercussions for you. For that reason you will not see any spells on this site that can do harm to others, and that can coerce them into doing something they do not want to do. We will strictly not perform anything kind of spell like that as it is both damaging to you and for the spell caster.

The Lost Bearded White Brother’s Beliefs
What follows was deducted from a long life of spiritual research and it forms what my spiritual beliefs are. One does not have to have faith and believe in my view of the universe to be enriched and be a better human being from it. The important thing is to live your life according to these basic principle with no regards about my views of the universe or about what your religion is, and you will help make the world a better place.
My View Of The Universe
- I see god as the soul of the universe, and when religions talk about a specific god they are talking about that specific incarnation of the same universal soul that can take multiple forms.
- Our soul is immortal and part of this universal consciousness.
- All souls are equal but different like men and women are equal but different.
- We all have a personal relationship with god and with every soul in the universe as we are part of the same universal consciousness.
- Our thoughts and actions describe us, and affect every soul in the universe including god and our own.
- Our soul retains impressions of all of our actions and thoughts we do and have during our lives and carry them over into the next life.
- Every action we have has an equal reaction. When we do good, good follows from it, and when we do wrong that too will follow.
- This cycle of action, reaction, birth, death and rebirth is a continuum and every cycle educates our soul to reach higher planes of consciousness to become more enlightened and more at one with the universal soul.
- Our continuous goal is to do Good in all of our lives so that one day our soul turns out to be so enlightened that it will become one with god.
- Magic one of the basic forces of nature and is part of the universal soul.
- Magic has yet to be understood by modern science, but has been shown to work for millenniums.
- Magic can affect our earthly life by gently pushing events in the right direction.
- Magic, like all of our actions should be used for good, and thus not be used to harm others or coerce them into doing something they do not want to do.
- Like all of our actions, whatever we do with magic will come back to us.
Thus said, we should make the most of our lives in all respects and live it to the fullest, as this will benefit the next one tremendously. We should always live in the present, not in the past or the future.
My Basic Moral Principles Of Life
My basic principles of life were derived from my beliefs. As I mentioned before you do not need to follow my beliefs to live your life along my principles. The important thing is that both you and the world will be better by following them. Since all of our actions and thoughts will receive an equal or greater reaction, before doing any action we should consider all of its implications. There are no small or big actions in life, every action should be considered properly. Thus are the basic principles on which we should base our actions.
We Should
- Respect people who deserve our respect.
- Respect nature and all it contains.
- Respect and value experience.
- Have mutual respect in any relationship.
- Have honor in all things.
- Do the Right thing.
- Eliminate all forms of prejudice.
- Treat people fairly.
- Be polite with all.
- Be humble.
- Have compassion.
- Lead by virtue and example.
- Strive to educate ourselves and daily learn new things.
- Do everything you do well and learn to do it better.
- Have an optimistic view of life.
- Be non-violent.
- Be generous to others with our time and money.
- Work for what we get and get justly rewarded.
- Be happy.
- Defend the rights of other.
- Help the less fortunate.
We Should Not
- Discriminate.
- Impose our will on others.
- Get angry all the time.
- Be greedy.
- Lust for others and their possessions.
- Be excessively proud of ourselves.
- Take what is not willingly given.
- Want more than your own share of the pie.
- Backbite.
- Gossip.
Every soul on this planet has the right to live well and wealthy and to have sensual pleasures, as long as it does not negatively affect others. If you can dream about doing something, you will always find a way to do it without hurting others. You need to have faith in yourself as it is the first step to success. You also need to have faith in magic for it to work properly. With these simple principles you can make a big difference in the world as every good deed makes the world better. Remember that respect and not imposing your will on others is the first step to enlightenment.

Grounding
This is very simple. I do it by a visualization of my feet as roots that push deep into the ground. Through these roots feel the energy of the earth and its strength, how it supports you and makes you strong. Your roots should go really go deep. After a while you can do this by just directing your thoughts and energy down into the earth but the visualization helps to get started. You can do this exercise any where whether you are in contact with the earth or not.
Centering
Find a place in your navel where you feel like it is your center of being. Practise centering into different places in the trunk of your body. First imagine that you have a field of energy around you. Another thing about practice, when I say that I am a Wizard or Witch I say that I am a practicing. This means that I am always learning and teaching my self. Being is a constant practice we are always looking for ways to bring peace and love into the enviroment. Our space is our sacred job given by the goddess do what you can to clean it up and make it better. If every person did this the world would be not only better but less hectic. I like the thought that cleaning is a ritual.
Magic Circle
First, ground and center. Mentaly ask the cleaning goddess to help you clean your space. Feel the energy around you, just be aware of how cluttered and messy your space is. Ground and center. What is Magic Circle? Why do we create it? How do we create it? What is it used for? Is it needed?
Magic Circle is simply an area that has been cleansed and blessed by you in the name of a deity. Magic Circle but as Wizard or Witch we do not worship in these areas and therefore must create our own. Magic Circle of space marked out by Wizard or Witch of some branches of ritual magic, which they generally believe will contain energy and form a sacred space, or will provide them a form of magical protection, or both.
To create sacred space you can be as simple or as formal as you wish. By simply saying, “By the powers of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit I consecrate this space in the name of the God and the Goddess.” If you prefer something more formal walk around the area once for each individual element and a representation of it.
“By the power of earth I consecrate this space in the name of the God and the Goddess. (Drop salt as you go around and say the words)” Continue with each of the elements using a representation of each; Athame for Earth, water for Water, incense for Air, your candle for Fire.
The common technique for raising energy within the circle is by means of a cone of power. The circle is usually closed by the practitioner after they have finished by drawing in the energy with the Athame the circle including their hand. This is called closing the circle, releasing the circle. The term “opening” is often used, representing the idea the circle has been expanded and dissipated rather than closed in on itself.
It is within this area that you will draw your circle and perform your rituals. The area you choose to work in may be as small or as large as you wish. You may also want to take into consideration whether or not you will be working with others. You may also not want your space to be permanent. You may want to put it away between rituals; such as in my case. Unfortunately, the room is very small, as is the case with most, so my alter must also be the kitchen counter, dinning room table, and desk (Altar Cloth if the real one is covered). I use a trunk and when not in use my Magic Tools are stored within it.
